Playground safety has become an increasingly important concern in recent years. The European Standards Committee (CEN) created a study group to design a series of regulatory guidelines which would fill the gap in playground safety.
In Spain, these guidelines are known as the UNE-EN 1176 and UNE-EN
1177 standards. Published in Spain’s Official Gazette,
these standards lay down the requirements to be met in the
following areas:
Designing play equipment; applying different test methods (during and at the end of the production process); requirements for play equipment offers to customers; and requirements for play equipment installation areas, assembly and maintenance.
